We both broke the law... but see the difference between you and me?

Updated: Jul 18, 2024

Greetings, friends

If you have a look in the book of Esther, you'll see the stark difference between the two wives of king Ahasuerus (Xerxes).

Queen Vashti was a beauty and beyond, but she let her rebellious, prideful vanity- her, 'Do you know who I am!?' ego get the best of her, proving that- for some- beauty only runs skin deep, while humble and equally beautiful Jewish Esther, showed that true beauty is bold, kind, selfless, daring, willing to risk all; willing to die, for a greater cause- which is the life of her people.

So what's the difference between Esther and Vashti? Well, Vashti thought her physical looks and the crown on her head could get her anything she wanted, side stepping her husband the King's law with a bad attitude. But Esther maintained her humbleness, even when she went up in rank and became Ahasuerus's next wife. When the heat was on, when the lives of her people- including herself- came under attack, she knew that the only one that could save them was God Almighty! She ditched the royal robes, the jewellery and queenly perks, and got on her knees to pray and fast for three days. She was willing to die trying, knowing that the Creator of heaven and earth was the one true King of all; the only one able to stop the enemy's onslaught!

Ahasuerus had one law: no one could appear before him without a summoning. Esther hadn't been called- but she was willing to break the king's law because it was a do or die dilemma. Ahasuerus had the power to cancel the death decree!

So, after the fast, three days later, Esther went to the king, uninvited and because of the favour and power of God Almighty, Ahasuerus, a king no doubt, but still a human, had no choice but to pardon Esther and give her whatever she asked!

Guys, never forget your roots no matter how high up in society you climb!

Please find a sit down and read all of the book of Esther... Everyone needs a Mordecai Every now and then!!

Good bless🙏

And Mordecai had brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was lovely and beautiful. When her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.
